In 2014, 3CF earmarked approximately 8% of its investment portfolio to be placed in impact investments. We are seeking high quality businesses in the regions where we fund charitable programs that demonstrate outstanding potential to create jobs for the poor and/or provide a valuable social or environmental benefit to those in need in their respective communities.
Currently, we have made one program-related investment in Vietnamese social enterprise, Nam Thang Long, which manufactures backpacks for schoolchildren that also operate as life-vests to prevent drowning. Read our blog about it here!
We are especially thankful to Upaya Social Ventures, Thriive, and the Arthur B. Schultz Foundation for their assistance and partnership in this endeavor.
